Although they're still associated with the pop-punk scene that they helped usher into the mainstream, the Starting Line have really grown up in the past few years. More specifically, they've evolved from a band who had a video that parodied Say Anything (for 2002's "Best of Me") to a group seriously singing the lyric, "I'm gonna tear your ass up like we just got married" (from "Bedroom Talk," off of 2005's Based on a True Story). After a successful stint on last year's Nintendo Fusion trek with Fall Out Boy, the Starting Line are bringing their brand of catchy pop-punk to St. Louis on Saturday night — and while they might have outgrown their brief John Cusack obsession, we guarantee they'll still be tearing up asses all night long.
