Local Motion: Pointfest

Saturday, May 6, at noon. UMB Bank Pavilion (14141 Riverport Drive, Maryland Heights)

We'd rather have a root canal than see many of the sub-Staind bands at 105.7 FM's annual Pointfest (Shinedown, Trapt, Hurt). But with sci-fi prog-geeks Coheed and Cambria and tatted-up metalcore brainiacs Avenged Sevenfold anchoring the mainstage, this year's all-day festival has some serious redeeming qualities. In fact, Pointfest's second-stage lineup is even more appealing, with UK shriekers People in Planes, Killers-esque synth-rockers Rock Kills Kid, bubblegum-punks Damone and OC-via-St. Louis cock-rockers Bullets & Octane all making appearances.
