Oh, Fair Mother

Published on May 10, 2006

What to do on Mother's Day? Hmm. You could take her out to dinner for the umpteenth time, but that's what everyone does. This year, switch it up a bit by taking her to the Art Fair at Laumeier Sculpture Park (12580 Rott Road, Sunset Hills). Jewelry, glass art, photography, wood art and sculpture hand-crafted by 150 artists from around the nation make Laumeier your one-stop Mom shop. Seriously, we bet that Mom would rather you buy her a handmade bracelet than a chicken Caesar salad. It'll warm her heart every time she wears it. The fair officially kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. and continues from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (May 12 through 14), but take Mom today and she gets a double present: time with her favorite child and the gift you buy her. Admission is $5 to $8; for more information check out www.laumeier.org or call 314-821-1209.
