Feel Like Family

Our grandmother, rest her sweet soul, was no cook. The drive to Grandma’s was around 1,100 miles (“over the river and through the woods,” psssh). We’d arrive on her doorstep, testy and hungry and thoroughly tired of the license-plate game, and Grandma would greet us with...cold cuts. And orange Jell-O. Grandma readily acknowledged her paucity of cooking skills, so she wouldn’t mind us saying that we wish she’d cooked more like Rosalie Fiorino Harpole. The native St. Louisan hosts A Sicilian Evening with Rosalie tonight at the Kitchen Conservatory (8021 Clayton Road, Richmond Heights). From 6 to 8:30 p.m., join Rosalie as she makes a delicious Italian salad with marinated artichoke hearts, penne with homemade red sauce, fresh Italian bread and handmade cannoli. This cooking demonstration (and feast!) costs $45, and everyone who attends receives a free copy of Rosalie’s cookbook, Rosalie Serving Italian. The evening will be full of fun and devoid of Jell-O.
