The phrase "comfort food" has been bandied about so much that it's become a cliché. Stale notion or not, the Blue Owl satisfies these longings in a country-diner atmosphere. Owner Mary Hostetter's Texas roots are evident in menu items such as biscuits and gravy topped with crumbled pork sausage, chicken-fried steak with country gravy and red-velvet cake. The influence of German immigrants on this region is also apparent, with German potato salad and German chocolate cake, cheesecake and pie. Even the Great Flood of 1993, whose roiling waters threatened to engulf Kimmswick, is commemorated with "levee-high apple pie."

    This was a girls day out lunch trip , The food was all fantastic . My group enjoys a little wine and we were told to bring our own in which of course we did . We were given a private little back room the service deserts and pricing was great .

    hard to beat this tiny cute town, servers all dress like old maids, just adorable! decor a plus, food was great, tropical chicken salad I recommend with white chili, yummy.
    strawberry 10 layer cake is to kill for.

    The food is amazing. We went there last fall. The beef veggie soup was so good it was a meal in itself! The desserts are melt in your mouth yummmmmm! This is a must restaurant when visiting the cute town. Also was listed as the Food Networks best restaurant
