Located in a converted apartment above Brennan's Wine, Food and Tobacco shop, Maryland House is something out of a fashionista's fever dream: You've got the bar, constructed out of green glass bottles; the "miniature movie theater" room, the vintage sneaker and T-shirt shop in the back. Oh, yeah, and outrageously adventurous small-plates food and oversize cocktails like the Nite Fox (sangria, Campari, sloe gin and oranges). Or accent your salad of roasted beets, fresh herbs, bergamot-infused olive oil, beet vinaigrette and ricotta salata with the Shoe Whore (strawberry brandy, Frangelico, heavy cream and basil). You'll have to squirm past the fabulous nightcrawling set, but the fabulous food's worth the effort.
