Blue-collar Dogtown rarely sees splendor like what's on display at Mihalis, from the complimentary weekend valet service to the split-level bar/lounge and the live music. The menu's heavy on the beef, all of it prime, all hand-cut to order. Best in show might be the tenderloin seasoned with Tellicherry peppercorns and a Cognac-amped Madeira sauce. Seafood and rack of lamb comport themselves well, as do classic steakhouse starters like French onion soup, bouillabaisse and a beef tenderloin salad. Request a booth if you can; the intimacy, along with the amber-hued lighting and seductive surroundings, guarantees that you’ll have fun and look good — even if your wallet takes a hit.
