In a forgotten nook of the South Grand strip, Pho Saigon delivers delicious cooking without the wait (or the attitude) of some of the more honky-centric Vietnamese joints in the neighborhood. Sure, some of the dishes are kind of rustic, but if it's authenticity (and lots of cilantro) you’re after, look no further. Number 89, tofu with lemongrass and onion, is a marvel. The pork-filled French sandwich comes on an unexpectedly excellent baguette. Or try Number 52, a big friendly bowl of stir-fried beef over vermicelli in a cheeky curry sauce. English is used sparingly, but everything on the menu seems to cost $3.75, and the likelihood of encountering a fresh vegetable is high.
