The King is South Grand's long-lived monarch of Thai dining. The Chinese section has been pared down to a scant two dishes, but that leaves more room for 30 other Thai specialties. The signature noodle dish, pad thai, as well as its many variants, is subtly nuanced, and a crisp papaya salad spiked with dried shrimp is perfect for a hot day. Warning: The kitchen will adjust the spice to your taste, but "hot" means hot. The room is tastefully understated, the service quiet and efficient, so don't neglect to order one of the loud froufrou drinks.
