One of the rare restaurants that has maintained an applause-worthy level of quality twenty years in, Bar Italia ain’t resting on its laurels. Working from a large menu, the kitchen consistently serves up wonderfully fresh food that manages to be both straightforward Italian and just a little chi-chi all at the same time. For an appetizer, calamari is served over chickpeas and potato salad; a simply grilled salmon entrée is given a twist atop a striking pile of purple cabbage. Top it off with pleasant and helpful service and delicious desserts, and you’ve got the most satisfying high-end eatery in the Central West End.
