St. Louis is alive with artistic and entrepreneurial innovation, home to creative thinkers who are reshaping our cultural landscape. On Thursday, August 28, we'll honor four of these aesthetic adventurers at Artopia, a gala celebration of the arts. On that night Riverfront Times will present pioneers in four fields — visual arts, performing arts, film/video/media and literary arts — with MasterMind Awards of $2,500 each.
Our goal is to honor current, cutting-edge work that's being done right now, right here in St. Louis. This is not a lifetime achievement award, nor is it a popularity contest, and nominees need not submit proposals outlining how they'd use the money. Instead, representatives from Riverfront Times and the community will evaluate potential honorees in each field, and then pick winners whose cultural and creative contributions are helping to redesign — and redefine — where we live.
