Life's Speechy

Feb 10, 2010 at 4:00 am
Teenagers have a tough go of it. Adults think they're pitifully inexperienced and that they act woefully entitled. And what teens think of each other is far worse. Anyone who is perceived as a bit different can be seen as an outcast, and Diwata, Howie and Solomon know this all too well. These three attend the same high school and are outsiders for different reasons, but they are brought together by a school scandal and end up taking charge and forming a speech and debate team. As you can imagine, hilarity and singing (?) ensue. To find out exactly what's going on at this Salem, Oregon, high school and to relive some of those awkward years while having a bit of a laugh, don't miss Speech & Debate. This dark comedy by Stephen Karam is presented by [Insert Name Here] Theatre Project and Stray Dog Theatre at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (February 11 through 20) at Tower Grove Abbey (2336 Tennessee Avenue), and tickets cost $15 (at 314-865-1995).
