Night Rider

Two-wheelin' at twilight

Despite her moniker, Ms. Day is a bit of a night person. She loves beholding the mysteries of the night sky, she adores many nocturnal animals, and she has the most stylish spelunker-style helmet, which she hardly ever gets to wear. Fortunately, she'll have an excellent chance to don her functionally fashionable headgear when she takes part in the free Moonlight Chubb Trail Ride at Lone Elk Park (1 Lone Elk Park Road, Valley Park; 636-391-0922). Her head will illuminate the way (and maybe even some deer or other creatures!) as she mountain bikes along the sometimes hilly and narrow path. Of course, not everyone has to be as chic as Day is — but headlights and helmets of some kind are required for all riders. The excursion runs from 8 p.m. to midnight, and a map of the approximately seven-mile trail can be found at www.co.st-louis.mo.us/parks.
