Take A Look, It's in A Book

This summer, you're looking for adventure, perhaps a trip on the open road, or a journey on the high seas. Maybe you're wanting to play detective in your hours away from the office, or you might even be looking to travel back in time, like one of those reenactors you see around the park on occasion. Trouble is, you do have a full-time job, limited funds and other lame, adult-type stuff. How are you going to fulfill those dreams with all of that working against you? As we learned from LeVar Burton, with a little imagination (and pocket change), it'll be easy — if you set aside some time this weekend to peruse the offerings at the Greater St. Louis Book Fair, held in the east parking garage of Macy's at West County Center (I-270 and Manchester Road, Des Peres). Open from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (April 29 through May 2), the gigantic sale will provide you with a full tank of gas, a seafaring vessel, a detective's badge and a coonskin cap via its hundreds of thousands of items in more than 150 categories, all available for purchase. Admission to the fair on Thursday night costs $10, and there's an auction of especially cool books at 7:30 p.m.; admission all other days is free, and most books are priced between $1 and $5. To have a look at some of the literary goodies, ranging from rare books to vintage comic books, and from novels to collectible works, visit www.stlouisbookfair.org.
