The Cat Galaxy

Cesar Millan is practically a household name for dog owners these days, but few pet owners know of his feline equivalent, Jackson Galaxy. The infamously goateed and tattooed host of Animal Planet's My Cat from Hell is on tour promoting the paperback edition of his book Cat Daddy, which tells the true story of his desperate attempt to escape rock-bottom poverty by securing a job at an animal shelter. This fateful decision resulted in him meeting and adopting Benny, a supposedly unadoptable cat. Becoming a cat owner changed his life, and Galaxy soon transformed his interest in cats to trained cat behaviorist, which resulted in his TV show. Galaxy discusses both his book and the challenges and rewards of cat ownership at 7 p.m. tonight at the Schlafly Branch of the St. Louis Public Library (225 North Euclid Avenue; 314-367-4120 or www.slpl.org). Admission is free, and Left Bank Books will have copies of Cat Daddy for sale. Tenth Life Cat Rescue will also be there with a few of their fine felines.
