Saint Louis Chamber Chorus: A Choral Atlas "The Holy Land"

Our Choral Atlas asks, “where is the Holy Land?” The Near East, as described by Virgil Thomson “Scenes from the Holy Infancy.” Bethlehem, described in carols by Briton, Peter Warlock, and American composer, Paul Nelson. The journey to the stable, undertaken by the Three Magi is depicted in motets from different time periods: Orlandus Lassus from the Renaissance, Peter Cornelius in 19th century Germany, and Healey Willan, a Canadian composer. For Edmund Walters, the Scottish island of Iona. William James imagined the Christmas story in the Australian bush. Kerensa Briggs and Tony Silvestri will attend as their commissioned piece premieres.
