A little birdy tells me that the Tom Tom Club will be coming to town at the Old Rock House sometime in September. Show info to be announced. Crib notes on the band: Formed by Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz of Talking Heads in 1980, its hybrid of hip-hop/funk/dancehall/rock is heard in the indelible hits "Wordy Rappinghood" and "Genius of Love." (You know, the one Mariah Carey borrowed for "Fantasy.") TTC played at the Fabulous Fox in 1990 on the "Escape From New York" tour along with the Ramones and Blondie (video of the latter here). And last year, TTC reissued its 1981 self-titled debut with 1983's Close to the Bone as a deluxe 2-CD package.

Here's the band live in Japan last year doing "Rappinghood." Man, this is going to be such a fun show.
