A year ago Ryan North made news when Alton police released a homemade video that soon spread across the Internet.

North, then 19, was one of several people watching two young men fight in an Alton backyard when the wrestling match soon turned much more violent. One of the other bystanders -- angry that his friend was losing the fight -- pulled out a Mac-10 and shot into the crowd striking Ryan.

Ryan recovered from that shooting. He would not survive the next.

On Sunday night, Ryan was involved in a confrontation with a group of men at the corner of Broadway and Branch streets in north St. Louis. According to the Alton-Telegraph, the two groups got into it early in the evening and then returned to the same street corner around midnight. An unknown suspect shot Ryan during the second skirmish. He died on the scene.

Police were looking for a red SUV. The Telegraph reports that North had a rap sheet of his own. He was convicted of robbery in 2006 and convicted of carrying a concealed weapon and sentenced to probation in 2007.

Below is the video of the Alton fight from April 27, 2008. Ryan's shooting takes place at the very end.
