Francis G. Slay Jr, the son of longtime former St. Louis mayor Francis Slay, was arrested in Clay County — just north of Kansas City — early Friday morning for driving while intoxicated, according to an online arrest report posted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The arrest report indicates Slay, 34, was arrested shortly after 1 a.m. on August 11 and was held at Clay County Jail. Slay was listed as a St. Louis resident.

The jail website does not currently list Slay among its detainees. The Highway Patrol's report indicates Slay is also charged with speeding and failing to drive to in a single lane.

We left messages with the Clay County Sheriff's Department and Prosecuting Attorney's office. We'll update this post if we hear back.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Slay works as a Community Outreach Manager for Centene-owned healthcare company Home State Health. He did not immediately respond to our message seeking comment.

In 2012, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that several court and city officials had quietly voided a traffic ticket for the mayor's son, reducing it to a noise violation that left the younger Slay without any state driving penalties. The mayor himself denied asking for the favors.
