It's easy to understand someone's anger should a speeding car fly down their neighborhood street and strike an innocent child. But that's not exactly what went down Saturday in south St. Louis in a situation the left a child dazed -- but uninjured -- and a driver hospitalized after a vicious beating by neighborhood vigilantes.

According to reports, a 38-year-old man was driving his van down the 3600 block of Iowa Street around 8 p.m. when a child ran into the street, hitting the side of his vehicle. When the driver got out of the van to check on the child, two onlookers approached and began throwing punches. The driver was ultimately knocked unconscious and taken to the hospital with a skull fracture.

One of the attackers, Jocquinn Perry, 20, was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree assault. The other suspect fled before police arrived.
