26 Things to Do to Celebrate 314 Day in St. Louis

Next Thursday, March 14, the spotlight will be shining on the St. Louis area again. That's right, it's 314 Day!

To celebrate, throw on your St. Louis gear — Cardinals, Blues, SLU, Arch Apparel — and grab a slice of St. Louis-style pizza, some delicious gooey butter cake and top if off with a Vess soda or a Schlafly beer.

Greater St. Louis Marathon & WashU 314 Day Fun Run
If running is more your speed, kick off your 314 Day with a 3.14-mile fun run from Washington University’s Danforth through Forest Park, the Washington University School of Medicine campus and back! The run will start between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m. at different intervals. Following the run, join participants for donuts and coffee on the east end of the med school campus facing Forest Park. 314 Day Illumination of the McDonnell Planetarium
The James S. McDonnell Planetarium (5100 Clayton Avenue) will be illuminated with a new colorful, limited-edition 314 Day 2024 design, created by local artist Marley Billie D (Instagram: @marleybillied) on March 13 and 14 from 7 to 10:30 p.m. each evening. The light display will be visible from east- and west-bound Highway 40/64 or by visiting Forest Park and heading up Faulkner Drive and around the Planetarium grounds. (Note: the photo above is from last year’s projection of local artist Dan Zettwoch’s 2023 design — this art will be brand-new).

Self-Guided Walks and Bike Rides on Greenways

Great Rivers Greenway is highlighting seven routes across St. Louis city, St. Louis County and St. Charles County that are all 3.14 miles long in honor of 314 Day. Options include St. Vincent Greenway (St. Vincent Park to Rock Road Transit Center), Centennial Greenway (St. Charles County Heritage Museum to Schaefer Park), Busch Greenway (Duckett Creek Trailhead to KATY Trail), Centennial Greenway (Shaw Park to Old Bonhomme), St. Vincent Greenway (Missouri History Museum to Etzel), Mississippi Greenway at Cliff Cave Park and Sunset Greenway at Sunset Park.
