Anita Abdul-Karim's family is in the produce business, so she'd always thought about opening a restaurant. She recently set aside clinical work to open Anita Cafe & Bar (2700 Locust Street, anitacafeandbar.square.site) in Midtown.
The restaurant serves food inspired by her Lebanese heritage (like za'atar-topped toast and a garbanzo bean with eggplant dish) alongside other fresh and healthy options like rosehip oatmeal, avocado toast and salads.
