St. Louis cannabis enthusiasts gathered on Cherokee Street over the weekend for the Second Saturday Social hosted by STL Canna Community.
Hosted by the Cola Private Lounge, Missouri’s first cannabis lounge, the free outdoor event featured local cannabis vendors, music and a raffle for attendees. There were a variety of edibles, concentrates, and even spices infused with cannabis available to sample. Throughout the afternoon, attendees ate pot brownies, rolled joints, ripped bongs and bonded over their love of weed.
The organizer and founder of STL Canna Community, Sarah Ceti, started the socials nearly 10 years ago while living in Oakland, California. When she moved to St. Louis, she noticed a lack of grassroots infrastructure to support the mom-and-pop cannabis vendors.
“Cannabis was introduced to Missouri as an industry first, less so as a community first, due to being forced to live in the shadows,” Ceti says. “But we are all connected. And now’s the time to pull together the community.”
The Second Saturday Socials are approaching their one-year anniversary in June. Ceti says they are a place for cannabis consumers to interact and also provide the support and exposure local vendors need to thrive. “The strength of any community is the strength of the small businesses,” Ceti says.
